In his new song “Famous,” West sings, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous,” a possible reference to his high-profile interruption of Swift on stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Then there was the continued fallout over West’s latest spat with pop star Taylor Swift.
It was not immediately clear whether or not he was serious – Twitter was skeptical, and with West, you never know – although the performer did claim a year ago he was $16 million in debt trying to launch his clothing line. This came after a tweet from West, sent Saturday night as he waited to go on “SNL,” saying, “I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt… Please pray we overcome… This is my true heart…” The problem now is that his life is hanging out with toxic celebrities, straining an already acrimonious divorce, and burning bridges with people who stood by him when most wouldn't.His wife, Kim Kardashian, chimed in helpfully on Twitter, saying, “Everyone Go get #TheLifeOfPablo.”īut many fans complained on Twitter about not wanting to having to buy a Tidal subscription to hear the album, while those who went to West’s site were greeted only with an audio message from Yasiin Bey, a stage name for rapper Mos Def. We loved him because he was transparent about life experiences we could all relate to. He’s shared everything about his life on songs, from info on his porn collection to assertions of former President George Bush giving Sadam Hussein anthrax. West has always treated his music like a glorified journal. But what does claiming ownership over the mother of his children have to do with New York City? Sure, Saturday Night Live is synonymous with NYC, but no amount of artistic freedom can explain West obsessively aiming hollow threats at a man who’s done nothing more than date a woman who West has repeatedly disrespected in public. At least his gripes about his divorce on his January collab with The Game, “Eazy,” somewhat fit the song’s topic of his life not being easy. “If I let 'em have my wife, niggas should thank me,” he raps.
This time, the threat comes as he continues to speak of Kim Kardashian in possessive terms.
For the second time in less than a month, West decided to ruin a perfectly good song by threatening physical harm on his estranged wife’s new boyfriend Pete Davidson.
